PIROSKA VARGA conductor/teacher/songwriter/writer
Hungarian born Piroska Varga has established herself since her arrival for a position in 1994 as a well-known choral expert, aural specialist and music educator throughout Australia.
She graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest in 1984. For ten years she has taught and conducted at the Zoltan Kodaly Music Primary, Secondary School and Professional Music Conservatory, Kecskemet, Hungary and at the same time worked part-time at the Zoltan Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music.
Since her arrival, Piroska has held positions at the Australian National University, Canberra School of Music then at The University of Melbourne, Faculty of Music and for six years every summer she lectured at the University of Queensland, Faculty of Music Summer School.
She has taught and performed extensively in Europe, Asia and Australia. She has been associated with most of the major universities and choirs in Australia. Piroska prepared and conducted many of the large choral works with orchestra and participated in many grand productions including the opera Renard by Stravinsky with STOPERA, the Symphony of a Thousand by Mahler at the Multicultural Festival in Canberra, at the 2000 Olympics Arts Festival in Sydney then at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne and, was yearly guest conductor at the Festival of Voices in Tasmania.
Piroska has been included in the 2000 Outstanding Musicians of the 20th Century and the One Thousand Great Intellectuals by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge.
Since 2008, Piroska has been living in Melbourne and working as a freelance conductor and music teacher, songwriter and, writer.
In 2016 Piroska has completed her Diploma in Sound Therapy and started her specialisation as a Biofield Tuning therapist. In the same year she was introduced to the wonderful world of essential oils by doTerra and started to use them with her clients with great result complementing her Sound Therapy practice.
In 2017 she has become a certified Biofield Tuning practitioner under the expert guidance of Eileen McCusick USA, the pioneer and founder of the method at Biofield Tuning Institute. Now, Piroska has a growing Biofield Tuning clientele with impressive results using this simple and elegant method.
End of 2018 brought an unexpected change in her life. Piroska started to draw and paint. Since, painting has become and almost daily activity bringing lots of joy to both the creator and viewers. She also started a very exciting project, A Painting for a Smile delivering art works to hospital patients to cheer them up during tough times. With teaching, tuning and art work, life is pretty good!
